Being a video creator that makes interesting content requires some work. In fact, if you want to be a video creator, but you are just starting out, you should follow our advice.

First of all, you have to be original to stand out from other video creators. That is why you'll need to determine your niche and your target. Next, decide on which platform(s) you want to share your content.
Then, do not forget to publish content regularly to keep your audience engaged and just be yourself!

Be original

If you want to stand out from other video makers, you have to bring original content because this is a very competitive market.

Making videos about a subject that has already been covered several times will not attract many people (unless you approach it in a new way). For example, you can create specific video transitions to propose impactful content. If you are not very inspired, you can also come up with a video related to a current trend. This type of content will arouse people's curiosity.

However, don't make a video about a trend that you do not like or master. You need to provide content that you can showcase. You need to provide content that you can highlight. If not, you won't have many good reviews or your audience will go watch somebody's else content.

Determine your "niche"

Basically, a niche is a group you want to attract because they have distinct interests. Before choosing your niche (if you don't know yet which niche you want to target), ask yourself those questions :

- Are you passionate about the topic you have chosen?

If this is the case, it will be easier to publish regularly because you will always be excited about creating new content. Also, when you share content you're passionate about, your audience will feel it, and it will attract other viewers.

- Have you checked if there is a demand for the topics you want to cover?

It is necessary to check if there is a demand because you will have no audience if no one is searching for something related to the topic of your content. So, you have two options :

  • Sharing the content you want just for fun, as a hobby. Eventually, if what you propose is brilliant, you will create demand. Automatically, if you create demand, you will have an audience. It will offer you a lot of visibility (in other words, views).
  • Do researches (with different tools like Google Trends or Google Ads - Keyword Planner) to find out what's trending or what people are researching on Google's search engine.

- Are your topics already covered by other video creators?

If many people are covering the same topic, it will be difficult for your content to be seen. You can try to address a requested topic that is not covered by many people, so there will be less competition.

So, when you have found your niche, the topic you have chosen to address must be brought in a certain way to stand out from the others.

Determine your target

Once you know your niche, you must determine who you are going to target with your videos. In general, you can identify two types of targets.

It can be a novice audience that wants to educate itself with your content or an audience that is just curious. It can also be an amateur, confirmed or expert audience that knows your subject and wants to improve their skills.

Decide on which platform you will share

It is possible to upload your video to several platforms, but you should choose the one that suits you best. For your information, the best-known and most popular platform is YouTube. However, it is not an obligation to post on YouTube, there are other choices available to you.

For example, you can choose Vimeo, Dailymotion, or DTube. Those platforms are kind of similar to YouTube.

There is also Twitch, which is quite popular at the moment. On this platform, you can post videos or even do live streams. If the content you have to offer is related to the world of video games or e-sports, this platform is a good option.

Regularity of content creation

As a video creator, you will have to post content on a regular basis if you want to keep your audience. Indeed, if you do not want to lose subscribers and also progress in video creation, you should eventually do a video release schedule to help you stay on track. At first, if you have trouble keeping up with your schedule, it is not a big deal. It will take you some time to adapt and if over time you still have trouble, just modify and reorganize your publishing schedule. Creating and publishing content should not become a chore.

For example, most famous video creators post on specific days and times in order to keep their community loyal. Not only does it work, but their communities are growing.

In fact, it would be better to publish content on YouTube, on Thursdays and Fridays, only between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. As a YouTuber, you can also post during weekends, since the highest commitment occurs on weekends. However, if you want to publish during weekends, try to do it between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM. You may have fewer viewers, regardless of the quality of your content, since the highest engagement on YouTube occurs on weekends.

On your marks, get set, shoot!

One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.

After following the previous steps, you can start creating your content and filming it. Just remember to stay true to yourself and be natural, so your audience can feel closer to you and your videos' creations. If you try to pretend to be someone that you are not, your content won't be authentic. Moreover, your audience such as yourself won't be pleased by the video content.
